Remember the rug that didn't work in the family room?
I packed it all back up and lugged it, painfully, to the post office, where I learned it would cost me over $50 to have it mailed back to FLOR. Uh, NO WAY! I'm way too cheap for that, so I decided to try it in the living room. I think it worked out just fine:
I've done a lot of spending lately, but I've been way too busy to have even half a clue where the money has all disappeared to. I'm hoping to get back on track, but December is always crazy...
I sure hope you were better setting up a plan for other people's finances than you are at sticking to yours. I've read this blog on and off for a few months, and I am not sure that I remember a time when you've hit your numbers

OK, so, in my opinion, that was an inappropriate comment. I think this blog has been very good and I give you a lot of credit for giving us the info you do.

Well, i think that someone needs a dose of christmas spirit! we are only human and the fact that at least there is a post on here close to every day says a lot about effort! i love this blog and scrooges need to start their own blog!

Angela - My point is that if I knew that my financial advisor didn't seem to ever hit their own budget, would I trust them. Would you go to a Dentist that had bad teeth?
Katie - I don't know exactly what Christmas spirit has to do with my comment. I was just stating my opinion. Until the end of month, this is a paid blog so I would hope that "at least there is a post on her close to every day".

Rex, there is a lot I purposely do NOT talk about on this blog. Like how much money we make, how much we save every month, how well our investments are doing or what our overall financial plan looks like. And there's a reason for that: people don't want to read about how well we're doing. Budgeting has always been hard for me mainly because I don't HAVE TO stick to a budget in order to be financially healthy. Sure, our overall financial plan would be even better if I was able to budget better and put that money towards investments, but lifestyle is often a worthy investment in and of itself.
What I'm saying is, what I post here is the COVER of the book. That's all. And I give some damn good financial advice even though I suck at budgeting!

I think there is just a misunderstanding with this blog. I had it myself at first. I really thought that there would be tips provided on how to stick to a budget for those of us who need it, so I added it to my list and just never removed it. I've kept reading only because I kind of have an odd obsession with the amount of money you spend. I just personally find it fascinating because even if I had enough money, I don't think I can imagine spending that much. But maybe I could.
It would have been nice, though, if you would have offered some budgeting advice or at least some more parenting stories. I do find it amusing that you can't survive without alcohol in your house, though. That, at least, I can relate to.

The rug looks great there. Is that a holiday-card organizer over on the wall?
